PBN Backlink Quality Checklist

Use this checklist as a screening tool, not as a promise that a placement is safe or effective.

Domain checks

Review age and history, previous topics, ownership or redirect changes, indexing, backlink sources, anchor history, obvious spam, and whether the domain appears to have been repeatedly repurposed.

Site checks

Inspect navigation, about/contact information, publishing consistency, topical focus, internal linking, page quality, broken assets, and whether the site looks maintained for readers rather than only for outbound links.

Link-profile checks

Look at referring-domain diversity, suspicious link spikes, low-quality directories, foreign-language or irrelevant backlinks, sitewide links, and major losses of historical links.

Outbound-link checks

Check how often the site links to unrelated commercial pages, whether anchors are heavily optimized, and whether content exists mainly as a container for paid links.

Placement checks

Confirm topical context, target URL, anchor, surrounding copy, indexability, canonical behavior, and whether the link remains live after delivery.

Risk checks

Review Google’s paid-link policies and decide whether the tactic fits your risk tolerance before evaluating it solely as an SEO opportunity.

Important policy context

Google's current spam policies identify buying or selling links for ranking purposes as link spam. Google also says paid advertising or sponsorship links can be legitimate when appropriately qualified with rel="nofollow" or rel="sponsored". Read Google's spam policies.
