How to Vet a Backlink Service

A professional-looking sales page is not evidence that the delivered links will be useful. Vet the process, the claims, and the placement.

Define the product

Clarify what type of link is being sold, whether the source sites are disclosed, whether content is new or existing, and what control you have over anchors and target URLs.

Ask for evaluation criteria

A provider should be able to explain how it screens sites for history, relevance, indexation, content, outbound links, and spam without relying solely on a proprietary authority score.

Read the terms

Look for delivery windows, replacement conditions, refund rules, permanence language, reporting, and exclusions. Translate marketing phrases like “lifetime” into operational terms.

Separate claims from evidence

Ranking timeframes, safety statements, and performance claims deserve extra scrutiny. Ask what is measured, what is guaranteed, and what is merely an expectation.

Test the relationship carefully

If you choose to proceed, a small initial order can reveal communication, reporting, placement quality, and fulfillment before you scale spending.

Important policy context

Google's current spam policies identify buying or selling links for ranking purposes as link spam. Google also says paid advertising or sponsorship links can be legitimate when appropriately qualified with rel="nofollow" or rel="sponsored". Read Google's spam policies.
